The Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Foundation Mission & Vision:

The Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Foundation leads the fundraising and community engagement activities that support Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center’s ability to serve the mental health needs of the community.

 

The Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Foundation intends to become the premiere behavioral health foundation providing financial resources and community engagement to improve the quality of life for individuals in need of mental health support and care.

 

The Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Foundation Board of Directors consists of:

  • Mr. Ken Agema

    • Agema is a retired businessman from Chicago who began The Self Help Jobs Program, which provides job search assistance to unemployed and underemployed individuals in the church community in the southern suburbs of Chicago and northern Indiana. Agema’s son received critical, life changing care from Gateways Hospital.

  • Ms. Jess Beattie

    • Beattie is a licensed clinical social worker and currently the social work manager at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital overseeing the medical social work staff in their roles as clinicians and managers.

  • Mr. Alex Guerrero

    • Guerrero is an economic development expert who has extensive community and business experience working in distressed and disadvantaged communities. As the CEO and founder of G-Prime, Guerrero oversees construction and expansions of hospitals, low income housing, assisted living facilities, and Alzheimer care units.

  • Mr. David Sturman

    • Sturman is a leading immigration lawyer in Los Angeles, representing clients before the USCIS and the U.S. State Department, as well as clients facing deportation and removal proceedings before the U.S. Immigration Courts.

  • Mr. Brian Thorne

    • Thorne is the Chief Development Officer for Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center. Prior to Gateways Hospital, Thorne was the Vice President, Fund Development for Good Samaritan Hospital.

  • Dr. Philip Wong

    • Dr. Wong is the Chief Executive Officer at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center in Los Angeles, in which he oversees their acute care and outpatient clinic, ancillary, and support services.

 

Ways to Give:

The Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center Foundation supports Gateways Hospital in its community engagement and fundraising efforts to serve individuals in need of mental health services. Support from our community and generous donors allow us to continue providing comprehensive mental health services  for children, adolescents, transitional-aged youth, and adults.

 

Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Echo Park that has been serving the Greater Los Angeles area since 1953. Gateways offers an array of comprehensive mental health services for children, adolescents, transitional-aged youth, and adults suffering from mental illness. We pride ourselves on offering the same quality standards in mental health treatment available to individuals, whether funded or non-funded.
