Who We Are
Gateways is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, person-centered care across its nine campuses. With a full spectrum of services—from outpatient treatment to acute inpatient care—Gateways provides tailored support for adolescents, transition-aged youth, and adults.
Gateways’ programs, delivered by a team of dedicated mental health experts, are designed to uplift and transform the lives of our clients, particularly those who are uninsured, low-income, or experiencing homelessness.
A Legacy of Care
Founded over 70 years ago, Gateways Hospital began as a community resource focused on addressing the unmet mental health needs in Los Angeles. Over time, Gateways expanded our care to 31 freestanding psychiatric acute care hospitals in California including the main hospital located in the heart of Echo Park.
Throughout our growth, we’ve stayed true to our mission of providing high-quality care to those who need it most, regardless of their financial situation. Today, Gateways serves over 1,700 individuals annually, offering a continuum of care that has helped countless clients rebuild their lives across 11 locations throughout the region.

Gateways Community Partners and Services
Our work is strengthened by deep connections with local communities and trusted partners.
Through the deep partnerships fostered throughout its history, Gateways works directly with community organizations to connect with individuals who need mental or behavioral health treatment, better serve clients, and deliver follow up services as clients reintegrate into their communities.
