Gateways hospital
and Mental Health Center offers services under contract with the
Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. As many as 28 adolescent
beds and 27 adult beds are available. The hospital is accredited
and licensed to provide an intensive therapy program for adults
and adolescents in need of acute psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis,
stabilization and treatment. The staff can further provide assistance
with placement referrals, when indicated for hospitalized patients.
The clinical staff constitutes a multi-disciplinary
treatment team. Structured individualized programs are available
to meet the needs of each patient requiring mental health or dual
diagnosis services.
Among the services provided to inpatients
are:
- One-on-one counseling
- Group therapy sessions
- Recreational and cultural activities
and socialization
- Round-the-clock nursing care including
medication monitoring
- Special education programs for adolescents
Gateways' Adolescent
Outpatient Program integrates psychological, medical, social, and
educational services to meet the mental health needs of emotionally
disturbed adolescents in our community. The program also provides
continuity of care for adolescents who no longer require 24-hour
inpatient services, but still need therapeutic support. Our goal
is to enable adolescents to remain in their home and school environments,
while developing healthy coping skills and a positive sense of self-worth.
Services are provided at the clinic, the area schools and at Juvenile
Hall.
The program is designed to provide
rehabilitative services for adolescents between the ages of 13 and
18. Gateways works with twelve area middle and High schools to address
the special challenges posed by troubled adolescents. Our services
include:
- Crisis intervention
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Individual, family and group therapy
- Case management
- Substance abuse prevention and treatment
- Parenting groups
Our team of clinical
professionals, including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists,
and various paraprofessionals are trained to provide treatment for
a wide range of problems including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Suicidal thoughts or attempts
- Post-traumatic stress disorders
- Obsessive-compulsive disorders
- Behavior disorders
- Eating disorders
- Dual diagnosis
