Conditional Release Program (CONREP) Administration

At the heart of Gateways services to the community are its forensic programs which, for the most part, are contracted for by government agencies.  Their primary function is to supervise individuals released by the courts back into the community.  Funding is provided by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the California Department of Mental Health Forensic Services, and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.

The Vocational Workshop


CONREP Administration provides evaluation services, court liaison services and expert witness services for the entire County of Los Angeles court system. The programs serve adults in the following legal categories:
  •  Not guilty by reason of insanity
  •  Incompetent to stand trial
  •  Mentally-disordered sex offenders
  •  Mentally-disordered offenders

CONREP clinically manages approximately 150 patients conditionally released to the Los Angeles community from state hospitals.  It also provides evaluations of over 500 patients residing in state hospitals.  Funding is provided by the State Department of Mental Health, Office of Forensic Services.

TREATMENT SERVICES PROVIDED BY GATEWAYS FORENSIC MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

  •  Individual and/or group therapy
  •  Home visits
  •  Staff contacts with family and others in the community
  •  Screening for drug and/or alcohol use
  •  Medication monitoring
  •  Diagnostic assessment, including periodic psychological assessments
  •  Court reports and testimony
  •  Case Management
  •  Vocational evaluation, couseling and job placement assistance
  •  Sheltered Workshop

Gateways licensed/certified professionals and paraprofessional staff provide services to Conditional Release Program (CONREP) Administration in the following programs:



GATEWAYS FORENSIC COMMUNITY TREATMENT PROGRAM (FCTP)

This program provides court mandated outpatient services to men and women between the ages 18 and 64.  Patients are referred through CONREP Administration.  In addition to funding provided by CONREP and the State Department of Mental Health, Office of Forensic Services, clients are required to pay for some of their own services.

GATEWAYS COMMUNITY CORRECTION CENTER (CCC)

This program provides court-mandated residential treatment, as well as outpatient and supervision services to men and women between the ages of 18 and 59.  Clients enter the program in the following ways:

  •  They have been released from Federal prison.
  •  They are under Federal probation.
  •  They have been directly committed to the program from either a Federal or County of Los Angeles court.
  •  They are referred by Los Angeles County CONREP.

Funding is provided through contracts with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the State of California Department of Mental Health, Office of Forensic services.  Alternative sentence clients pay for their own community custody.

GATEWAYS SATELLITE CONDITIONAL RELEASE PROGRAM (CONREP)

Gateways Satellite CONREP provides court-mandated residential, day-care and outpatient treatment to men and women between the ages of 18 and 59 who are referred through Gateways CONREP Administration.  In addition to funding provided the State Department of Mental Health, Office of Forensic Services, clients are required to pay for some of their own services.

GATEWAYS COMMUNITY REINTEGRATION PROGRAM(CRP)

The CRP Program provides voluntary residential, daycare and outpatient treatment to men and women between the ages of 18 and 59 who have a history of mental illness and recent involvement with the criminal justice system.  Primary funding is provided by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.  Clients are required to pay for some of their own services.

THE VOCATIONAL WORKSHOP

For appropriate patients, the Workshop provides pre-vocational assessment, training, work adjustment and long-term sheltered employment.  The Workshop engages in light industrial assembly and packaging services.

Funding is provided by the State of California Department of Mental Health, Office of Forensic Services, and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.  The Workshop also depends on contracts received through a competitive bidding process.

Services are provided by staff members with appropriate industrial expertise.
